Where Moolank uses only the day you were born, Bhagyank (भाग्यांक), literally "fortune number", uses your complete date of birth. Numerologists read it for long-term life themes. The name does not mean the sum can predict your future, and the meanings below are traditional associations, not findings.
Bhagyank belongs to modern Indian numerology, which adapts Western number-planet conventions to the nine grahas; it is not part of classical Jyotish texts. Indian numerologists usually give it the most weight when discussing career direction, life themes and compatibility, as Western numerology does with the Life Path Number.
How to Calculate Your Bhagyank
Add every digit of your full date of birth — day, month, and year — together, then keep reducing the sum until you reach a single digit.
Example: Born 3rd April 1990 → 3 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 26 → 2 + 6 = 8.
Example: Born 15th November 1988 → 1 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 8 = 34 → 3 + 4 = 7.
Because the year contributes multiple digits, Bhagyank can (rarely) land on a master number like 11 or 22 before final reduction, and whether you keep it is a convention of the system you follow. Most everyday Indian practice reduces all the way to a single digit 1–9.

Bhagyank vs the Western Life Path Number
If you've read our Numerology Life Path guide, the calculation will look identical — because it is. Bhagyank and the Life Path Number are the same underlying figure, computed the same way, described through two different lenses: Indian numerology's planet-number table, and Western numerology, which credits its system to Pythagoras although the modern method dates from the 20th century. Neither is "more correct" — they're the same number carrying two names.
What differs slightly is emphasis. Vedic practice tends to pair your Bhagyank with your Moolank as a matched set — root number for daily nature, destiny number for life direction — whereas Western practice usually treats Life Path as the most important number in a longer list (Expression, Soul Urge, Personality, and so on).
One naming trap: Western numerology also has a "Destiny" or "Expression" number, but it is calculated from the letters of your full name, not your birth date. Bhagyank is date-based, so it matches the Life Path Number, not the Western Destiny Number.
